Redbud Trees
From mid-April to mid-May, Lucas County comes alive with thousands of redbud trees blooming around a 72-acre lake at Red Haw State Park. Visitors and photographers come from miles away to enjoy the fairy-like wonder that the beautiful purple colored blossoms bring to the park.

Visitors can enjoy an array of activities, including fishing, hiking and more. Learn more about Red Haw State Park and start planning your visit.

Lunch on the Square
Our Lunch on the Square events will be put on pause for 2023. We are thankful for your support and attendance and hope you will enjoy our other downtown events throughout the season!
Chariton Farmers Market
Enjoy a stroll through the Chariton Farmers Market and discover locally grown produce, homemade baked goods, and handmade items. Our Farmers Market begins the second Thursday in May and is held every Thursday through the first week of October. Each week brings new goodies as well as surprise demonstrations, free recipes, and more.
Community Band
Step back in time and enjoy live music from Chariton's Community Band. Bring a lawn chair and claim a spot around the Larry J. Clark Memorial Gazebo, located on the northeast corner of the square. Free popcorn and lemonade are served each week.
